Heavy Metal Summer Experience 2025 Highlight
Heavy Metal Summer Experience Kansas City 2025 is in the books!
SMACNA-KC, in partnership with MCA KC, hosted HMSE again this year. It was a jam-packed 4 days of hands-on experience in the construction trades. This camp allows 30 high school students from around the Kansas City area to learn about the Sheet Metal, Pipefitting, Plumbing and Electrical trades through hands on experiences creating projects, competing in games and participating in demonstrations. These students leave with a much deeper understanding of this alternative career path, what the jobs entail and what an apprenticeship program involves.
This camp cannot happen without our local and national sponsors or our labor partners at SMART Local 2, Pipefitters Local 533, Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 8 and Mark One Electric. There are also a huge number of volunteers; tradesmen and women, retirees, contractors, vendors and many more that put many hours into this event to make it happen. Thank you to all of those that bring this amazing opportunity to the young men and women of our communities to see the innumerable career opportunities that the construction trades offer.
